I think Michael has gone crazy, steam indeed! Maybe he read the Wikipedia page and tried to pass it off his own, or maybe it is his own... Either way it's horseapples! Who would make a lemon or orange flavour sweetmeat under the name of Pyramint? Not a single soul, Michael needs a chat with a head doctor... Blessim!

At last! Someone else remembers Delights! I did worry i'd made them up in my head! Didn't the advert have Ted Bovis out of Hi De Hi in it?

I also used to love Pyramints, Secrets (which sat on a cardboard platform as they were very friable and easily broken, but utterly delicious) and Novo bars.

But I would sell my soul for one more Delight bar! :D

Nestle secred bars - had some gooey marshmallow type stuff inside with chocolate strands wrapped like a cage around - really miss them, but yeah, the pyramint , back then a usual chocci bar was like 15 to 23p, but these were between 50 & 60p so expensive - but they would sell nowadays - or they could make a bar or mini ones

No, sorry Michael, I don't remember the Mammoth Straws box itself, I just remember the tubes of sherbet. I always preferred the Sherbet Fountain myself (except for the Liquorice) and the Sherbet Dip Dab. Much nicer sherbet in my opinion.

Thanks for answering my questions Big Boo; that definitely WAS steam coming out of the lemon and orange wafer filled bars. Though I unfortunately still don't know how the STEAM was able to made in the bars and come out of them when you bit off one of the pyramid segments of the bars.

Anyway, do you remember the box I described? I doubt you HAVE it (rest assured that I'm emphasising 'was' and 'have'; not shouting them).

If you still HAD that box, I could tell you where to send it to.

Can't say I remember the Pyramint bars Michael, and are you sure about the steam coming out? I'd love to know what process they used to do that!

I certainly remember Mammoth Straws though, or at least something incredibly similar to what you describe. I always found the sherbet got too stick from condensation from your breath and would block the tube, so you'd need to snip that bit off in order to get more out.

Who remembers Mammoth Straws? They were tall, large, lenghty, thin inedible straws (made of plastic, of course) with differently coloured fruit flavoured sherbet crystals (the different colours depended on the flavour of the sherbet).

You had to rip off the square paper on the height of the straws and then had to suck the sherbet crystals out of the straws; for that matter, who remembers the box these straws came in?

The box was tall, thin, large and lengthy, was made of cardboard, was 3D, was yellow and had no lid. It said 'MAMMOTH STRAW' in block capitals (written vertically) [because mammoth can mean 'incredibly large'].

The box had four corners and each corner had four different professional cartoon drawn people of a rugby player, a clown, a skier and a magician.
All their legs were the same size and length of the straws (and the box) and they all wore white trousers with differently coloured vertical stripes.

I so miss this box. Who still has it?
