E.T. sounds like a great choice, especially if she liked Star Wars! Just be prepared for the sad bits when E.T. nearly dies I suppose! Hope your little one enjoys it!

Totally agree about the new Indy movie. I love the character and Harrison Ford so much that I would watch him no matter what. I just did not like the CGI stuff and the crazy space alien part of the plot. Part of the magic of those movies to me in the past was there was a part of me that believed, "Hey, that could really possibly happen." As unbelievable as much of it was, there was a part of me that wanted to believe and the way it was done allowed you to do that.

Have not watched The Goonies with her yet. Probably soon. Did the Star Wars Trilogy and Ghostbusters (to my wife's disagreement). I think E.T. might be next, but The Goonies will be soon as well. The fact that she loved the movies (probably because she knew her daddy loved them) made it so much fun to watch them with her. You have a great experience to look forward to in that regard!!!

Take care. OS

I must say I agree with you about the films feeling magical for their lack of CG effects. Most recently I *almost* felt that same magic again when watching the new Indiana Jones film. It was good to see some real stunts for a change, and it was the CGI effects that let the film down - what were they thinking about with those gophers?

I have a baby girl (almost six months old) myself so I'm looking forward to her being old enough to enjoy some of my old favourites with me. Star Wars, Ghostbusters and The Goonies immediately spring to mind as good choices.

Love this post, Big Boo!
I too have very fond memories of my first time seeing Star Wars (which I also don't refer to as A New Hope). I have been a big fan ever since. My brother and I became pretty obsessed with it after seeing the movie (which was my 3rd after only seeing Jungle Book and Pinocchio in the theater previously). We started collecting the toys and anything else having to do with the movie.

I had fun a couple months ago letting my little daughter watch the original trilogy for the first time. Her excitement and enjoyment brought the same to me as we watched them together. I had to explain lots as we went along, but she really liked them. It has a "princess" in it, so pretty much automatically likes it then. She asks about them all the time now. That original trilogy is still magical to me.

I think part of it is that they did the special effects all "old school" and not so much CG. I like the "old school" way better (surprise, surprise). The characters and actors were great too. Thanks for a great post. I could go on blabbing about this all day, so I will cut myself off now. Thanks, OS.
