Here’s a little bit of a poser for you. Remember this TV advert from the early 1980’s? A van is leaving a building site. Inside the front seat passenger starts to sing:
His mates in the back of the van, a scary looking bunch it has to be said, then start to join in:
Fried Onion Rings?
You’ll have to wait and see.
Hope it’s chips, it’s chips. We hope it’s chips, it’s chips.
I’m sure you must recognise the advert by now, but do you remember what it was advertising?
Nope, it wasn’t chips, though you’d be forgiven for thinking it was. This advert was actually for beefburgers, specifically Bird’s Eye Steakhouse Grills, a bigger thicker burger which you “cooked liked a steak and served like a steak”. OK, they were quite nice as I recall, but they certainly didn’t taste like a steak, being made of minced beef instead of a thick slice of cow.
Need some reminding. Alright, here’s the ad for your viewing pleasure. And if you don’t remember that one, what about the other similar one with all the school kids lining up to have the school photo taken?

Was it not for Birds-eye’s Steakhouse Grills? The song was about what was going to accompany it when they got home

Now I’ve read the article – you already knew, didn’t you?
I now have to find something else I know the answer to

Yeah, it was a kind of rhetorical question, but well done for knowing the answer – most people think it is for oven chips.
